Library Dumps Prison Labor After Inmates Walks Away

A Western Kentucky public library is dropping its use of a community service program after an inmate walked away and has yet to be found.

The Hopkins County-Madisonville Public Library cited the escape among several factors in its decision to drop the program used by the Hopkins County Jail.

Board member Gwendal “Fay” McCaskill told The Messenger  that there may come a point where there’s enough staff to supervise the program, but until then the county shouldn’t jeopardize employees
